Tobey Osborne
Founder, Toast Mobile. Mobile product engineering.
Edmond, Oklahoma.
hi, I’m Tobey. I’ve been building technology and software for over 16 years, and I wake up each day passionate about the work I get to be part of. I love bringing simple solutions to complex problems for clients and personal projects. I believe building products users come back to day after day requires pairing excellent design with software and focusing on how the user interacts with each part of the project, from start to finish.
The last 8 years of my career have been with one of the first apps launched on the App Store, the YouVersion Bible app. My work there started on a 35 person team that scaled to a 200+ team as we worked to grow the app to the 1 billion download milestone in 2025.
On the side, I love innovating and creating simple games for people to enjoy. I am a future focused engineer, constantly learning and adapting to the rapidly changing landscape of technology. With AI on the rise, now is the time to audit and adjust what is working now and bring it up to speed for the future.

- 16+ years
- 35+ apps shipped
- 3M+ downloads
What I can do
Hire me for one piece of it or the whole thing. Most engagements start small and grow.
- End to end product builds Concept, design direction, app, server, store submission, and the maintenance years after launch.
- iOS and Android Native where it matters, Flutter when one codebase is the right call. 35+ apps in the stores since 2010.
- Backends and infrastructure APIs, databases, real time multiplayer, push, payments, hosting, and a bill that stays sane as you grow.
- Technical leadership Architecture, code review, hiring, and setting direction with product and design. A senior mobile mind without the headcount.
- AI coaching for teams Getting engineers genuinely productive with agentic tools rather than merely curious about them. Workflows, guardrails, honest limits.
- Rescue and audit Inherited codebases, stalled launches, and apps that need someone to own them again.
How I work
- You talk to the builder No account layer between you and the person writing the code.
- Ship early, then keep shipping Something real you can hold beats a perfect plan on a slide.
- One owner, whole stack App, server, release, and support. Nothing falls through a handoff gap.
- Honest estimates I would rather talk you out of a build than bill you for one that should not exist.

What I care about
- Products people actually open The goal is to build products people love, with daily active users as the key metric.
- Craft over churn Fewer, better screens. Fast, quiet, and considerate of the person holding the phone.
- Software that lasts Apps I shipped a decade ago still run. I care about the quality and community of people that use them.
- Treating users well Clear pricing, no dark patterns, and data handling I would be comfortable explaining out loud.
